Surrey,BC- A man is in police custody following an alleged bank robbery in Surrey’s Newton area on Monday afternoon, according to the Surrey Police Service (SPS).

Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on April 13, 2026, frontline officers responded to reports of a robbery at a bank located in the 7100 block of King George Boulevard. The suspect had reportedly fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival.

With assistance from the Real Time Intelligence Centre (RTIC), which monitored the situation and provided real-time updates, officers were able to track and locate a suspect a short distance away near 70B Avenue and 134 Street.

Police say an adult male was arrested without incident and taken into custody. Investigators also recovered potential evidence believed to be connected to the robbery.

The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues. Criminal Code charges have not yet been sworn.

SPS is asking anyone with information about the incident who has not yet spoken with police to contact them at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-34739 (SP).
