Bathinda, June 9, 2025 – Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP from Bathinda, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, has strongly condemned the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government for what she calls a “land grab scam” involving the acquisition of 24,000 acres of fertile farmland in Ludhiana.
In a fiery statement released today, Badal accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of using government bonds to finance the forceful acquisition, a move she called “shameful and anti-farmer.”
“This is being done to acquire land cheap and then act like a property dealer by either taking it out of acquisition or making large parcels available to chosen developers,” she alleged.
She further claimed that the farmers do not want to part with their land, and warned that the SAD would not allow the acquisition to go through under any circumstances.
Badal also promised a full investigation into the matter:
“We are committing to uncovering the entire scam which runs into hundreds of crores and ensuring the guilty are brought to book.”
The issue has sparked major political controversy, with SAD gearing up for state-wide protests and legal action if the government continues with the proposed plan.
The Punjab government has not yet responded to the allegations.
