Johannesburg, South Africa — November 22, 2025 – In a landmark move to boost global innovation and strengthen strategic ties, Canada has joined Australia and India to launch a new trilateral technology and innovation alliance: the Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership.
Announced today in Johannesburg, the pact positions the three countries at the forefront of cooperation on critical and emerging technologies, expanding upon existing bilateral efforts and setting a stronger collective ambition for the years ahead.
The ACITI Partnership will focus heavily on green energy innovation, critical minerals, and the creation of resilient, diversified supply chains—a priority as nations work toward net-zero commitments and greater economic security. The collaboration will draw on each country’s natural strengths, with an emphasis on accelerating clean-tech solutions and developing secure, sustainable pathways for the future.
Artificial intelligence will also be a major pillar of the initiative. The three governments committed to exploring AI development and mass adoption in ways that can improve quality of life for citizens while ensuring safety and responsible use.
Officials from all three nations will convene in the first quarter of 2026 to advance the partnership’s framework and lay out next steps.
The new pact signals a significant strengthening of Canada’s global innovation partnerships at a time of rapid technological change and shifting geopolitical landscapes.
