Hope, BC – BC Highway Patrol has issued a safety reminder after stopping a commercial truck travelling at 135 km/h in a 110 km/h zone during poor weather conditions near the Highway 3/5 junction in Hope.
In a post shared on social media platform X, police noted that while the speed may not rival Santa’s sleigh, a big rig moving that fast in sloppy winter weather poses a serious risk to public safety. Officers emphasized that commercial drivers are held to higher standards and are typically well aware of the dangers excessive speed can create, especially in adverse conditions.
BC Highway Patrol is urging all drivers, particularly those operating large commercial vehicles, to slow down and adjust their driving to road and weather conditions as winter travel continues across the province.
