Surrey, BC –On May 15, 2025, the City of Surrey Bylaw Commercial Vehicle Unit led a large-scale truck enforcement operation in the 6200 block of 128 Street. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with several enforcement partners, including the Township of Langley Bylaw, Surrey Police Service Traffic Unit, Burnaby RCMP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE), New Westminster CVE, BC RCMP Highway Patrol, Fraser Coast Integrated Road Safety Unit, and the Provincial Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) branch.
A total of 51 commercial vehicles were thoroughly inspected during the one-day blitz. Of those, 32 were immediately placed out of service, representing 63% of the total vehicles checked. The vehicles were taken off the road due to a variety of safety, mechanical, and regulatory violations.
In total:
- 162 violations were identified,
- 72 provincial violation tickets were issued, and
- 15 bylaw tickets were handed out.
The operation highlights ongoing concerns around commercial vehicle safety on Surrey’s roads and underscores the importance of coordinated enforcement to ensure compliance with provincial and municipal transportation standards.
The City of Surrey and its enforcement partners continue to emphasize the critical role of proactive inspections in improving road safety for all motorists.
