Surrey, BC- Two men have been charged following a Surrey RCMP investigation into a string of commercial robberies that spanned multiple cities in Metro Vancouver. Between August 29 and September 18, 2023, six robberies were reported, with four occurring in Surrey, one in Burnaby, and another in Richmond. Police believe the incidents were linked.
In three of the robberies, the suspects allegedly used stolen vehicles to ram the front doors of gas stations and convenience stores, gaining access to the premises. The Surrey RCMP Robbery Unit took over the investigation early, coordinating with law enforcement in Burnaby and Richmond. Their efforts culminated in a search warrant executed in Surrey’s 7100-block of 144B Street, where police seized a loaded shotgun and ammunition.
Two suspects were identified, and charges were approved by BC Prosecution Services. On September 17, 2024, the following charges were laid:
1- Stephen Michael Ernest Webber:
– Six counts of robbery
– One count of possession of a prohibited or non-restricted firearm
– One count of unsafe storage of a firearm
– One count of possession of a firearm without a valid license or registration
2- Adrian Craig William Horsburgh :
– Six counts of robbery
“This is just another example that crime has no boundaries, and information sharing between police agencies is vital to solve crimes. We thank our partner agencies for their assistance,” said Sgt. Tammy Lobb, Media Relations Officer with Surrey RCMP.
Both Webber and Horsburgh remain in custody pending their next court appearance.
