Surrey,BC-This week, nine additional Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers have been deployed into frontline policing roles, marking a significant step in the ongoing policing transition. This deployment, the sixteenth for SPS, includes six new graduates from the Justice Institute of British Columbia and three seasoned officers. The new team, set to respond to calls from Surrey residents and businesses, consists of five female and four male officers.
SPS now has 221 officers in active duty, supported by 60 civilian staff and a total of 371 police officers.
“I am excited to see more and more SPS officers serving the community as we move towards becoming the police of jurisdiction this November,” said SPS Chief Constable Norm Lipinski. “SPS continues to recruit and hire officers with different levels of service – from new recruits to highly experienced officers – so SPS is fully equipped to serve Surrey today and in the future.”
SPS is currently offering various job opportunities for both police and civilian positions.
