Surrey, BC, — Surrey Bylaw, in collaboration with its regional partners, successfully conducted a Commercial Vehicle Safety Inspection on September 11, 2024. The initiative involved teams from the Township of Langley Bylaw, Burnaby RCMP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE), Surrey Police Service, Vancouver Police Department CVE, and New Westminster Police CVE.
A total of 45 commercial vehicles were inspected during the operation, with 28 vehicles (62%) placed out of service due to safety and mechanical issues. Inspectors identified 70 violations and defects, leading to the issuance of 13 provincial violation tickets and $3,700 in bylaw fines. Additionally, one prohibited driver was removed from the road, ensuring enhanced public safety.
This multi-agency effort underscores the importance of maintaining vehicle safety standards and keeping Surrey’s roads safe for all.
