Richmond, BC  – Richmond RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance following an alleged robbery that took place in the Broadmoor area on the evening of June 1. Shortly after 10:45 p.m., police received a report of a robbery at a plaza located in the 10000 block of No 3 Rd.

The victim, who was leaving the plaza and heading towards a bus stop on Ryan Rd., alleges that he was attacked by up to eight masked individuals. During the assault, the victim was reportedly struck in the head with a weapon and had his backpack stolen.

Witnesses say that two of the suspects fled towards a business within the plaza, while the remaining suspects left in what is believed to be a white SUV or hatchback. Fortunately, the victim did not sustain significant physical injuries but was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The Richmond RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) is leading the investigation. They are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of No 3 Rd, from Ryan Rd to Williams Rd, between 10:40 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., and who may have witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage, to come forward.

In a subsequent development, the victim’s backpack was recovered near a school in the 8200 block of General Currie Rd. Authorities are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen a white Hyundai Sedan in that area between 10:50 p.m. and 11:15 p.m.

Richmond RCMP urges anyone with information about this incident to contact them at 604-278-1212, quoting file number 2024-17171. Your assistance could be crucial in helping solve this case and ensuring community safety.
