Vancouver, BC– In a ceremony held today, the British Columbia government recognized individuals who have made significant contributions to the province and the country by awarding them the ‘King Charles III Coronation Medal.’ This commemorative medal, created for the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III on May 6, 2023, marks the first Canadian medal celebrating a royal coronation.
The recipients of this prestigious medal represent a diverse cross-section of individuals who have made notable contributions to British Columbia, their specific regions, or communities, or have achieved extraordinary accomplishments abroad that bring prestige to the province.
BC Premier David Eby addressed the gathering, stating, “I sincerely congratulate the recipients of the King Charles III Coronation Medal. This special honor recognizes your dedication, unwavering commitment, and the profound impact you have had on your communities and our province. It is a testament to the respect and admiration you have earned.” The BC government is distributing a total of 551 medals across the province to honor these deserving individuals.
Among the honorees at today’s event was prominent radio host Dr. Jasbir Singh Romana. Other notable Punjabi personalities recognized included radio host Harjinder Singh Thind, Sahib Singh Thind of the Prof. Mohan Singh Foundation, Balwinder William Sandhu, Harinder Mahal, Satwinder Kaur Bains, and wrestler Arjan Bhullar. The ceremony saw participation from all members of the legislative assembly and cabinet ministers, ensuring that the medals reached as many deserving individuals as possible. Similar ceremonies are being held throughout British Columbia to recognize contributions province-wide.
