Surrey, BC – John Rustad, Leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia, has unveiled the “Rustad Rebate,” a new initiative aimed at providing relief to renters and homeowners across the province. Under this plan, British Columbians struggling with soaring housing costs will be eligible for real financial aid. The program, which specifically targets middle-class families, comes after years of rent and mortgage pressures under the current NDP government.
Rustad, in his announcement, emphasized the challenges faced by working-class families. “The Conservative Party believes in hard work and opportunity. If you work hard here, you should be able to get ahead,” Rustad stated. He further criticized the current NDP government for what he called an “endless treadmill of rising costs and punishing taxes,” noting that his proposed rebate would help alleviate those burdens.
The Rustad Rebate is designed to help families stay in their homes by providing tax exemptions on up to $3,000 in monthly housing costs. Rustad vowed that, if elected Premier, he would ensure that these costs are fully exempt from BC income tax, reducing the financial strain on families across the province.
“My promise to the people of British Columbia is that I will systematically attack the cost pressures in all areas of life,” Rustad said. His focus is squarely on giving middle-class families the opportunity to get ahead without the constant worry of rising expenses.
This bold proposal is part of the Conservative Party’s broader strategy to counter the challenges posed by increasing housing and living costs in British Columbia, with the goal of providing practical solutions for residents across the province.
