Surrey: An international student, who had arrived in Canada a few weeks ago, was killed in a deadly crash on Highway 99 in South Surrey on July 11.
According to information, the 19-year-old victim, identified as Saniya, arrived in Canada on July 9.
A gofundme page launched by Baljinder Bhandal said Saniya had come to Canada with full of hope and excitement for a bright future. “Tragically, on the early morning of July 11, she was involved in a fatal accident on Surrey 99 Highway and passed away at the tender age of 19.”
“We are now faced with the heart-wrenching task of bringing her body back to India so she can rest in peace among her loved ones. The costs associated with this are overwhelming, and our family has already exhausted our savings to send her to Canada,” she wrote on the fund raising page.
“We are reaching out to you, our friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers, for support. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help us cover the expenses of sending Saniya’s body back to India and providing her with a proper farewell. Please keep Saniya and our family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” the organizer said.
