Delta, BC – July 7th marks the grand opening of India BookWorld, a new bookstore in Delta, BC, dedicated to promoting South Asian literature and culture. Located in the heart of Delta, India BookWorld offers a wide range of books, from classic Indian literature and contemporary fiction to children’s books and educational resources.
The opening ceremony was attended by local dignitaries, authors, and community members. The event featured speeches by Delta Mayor George Harvie, Education Minister Rachna Singh, Housing Minister Ravi Kahlon and prominent South Asian authors.
Store owner, Dr. Rajwant Chilana, former Librarian and himself a writer expressed his excitement about the new venture. “India BookWorld aims to be more than just a bookstore; it’s a cultural hub for the South Asian community and beyond. We want to provide a space where people can connect with their heritage and discover the rich literary traditions of South Asia.”
The bookstore’s interior reflects its cultural mission, with vibrant decorations and dedicated sections for various genres and languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, English and Urdu.
Residents of Delta have welcomed the new addition to their community. Many attendees at the opening expressed their appreciation for having a dedicated space to explore and celebrate South Asian literature and culture.
