Surrey, B.C. – The City of Surrey is inviting residents to take part in planning the future of Unwin Park, one of Newton’s most popular community parks. The city is developing a new long-term plan to ensure the park continues to meet the needs of a growing community.
“Unwin Park is an integral part of the community, and this Council is committed to listening to residents as we plan for the park’s future,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “Our parks play an important role in supporting active living, fostering community connections, and enhancing overall wellbeing. I encourage everyone to share their ideas and help shape a park that reflects the needs of our growing city.”
Spanning 15 hectares (36 acres), Unwin Park features a wide range of amenities, including a water park, dog off-leash area, outdoor pool, sports fields, lacrosse boxes, games court, and Surrey’s largest inclusive playground.
Residents can share their feedback by completing an online survey at surrey.ca/unwinpark, which will remain open until December 7. They can also attend one of two open houses at the Newton Recreation Centre: Sunday, November 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or Thursday, November 20 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
With over 800 parks citywide, including more than 200 offering recreational amenities, Surrey continues to prioritize community spaces that promote active lifestyles and protect natural areas as part of its green infrastructure network.
