Ottawa- Canada is set to increase permanent residence application fees later this spring, as the federal government moves to keep immigration services sustainable and responsive to rising demand.
In an announcement from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada on March 27, 2026, officials confirmed that updated fees will take effect on April 30, 2026. The changes are part of a routine adjustment under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, which mandates fee reviews every two years to account for inflation and operational costs.
Under the new structure, the Right of Permanent Residence Fee will rise modestly from $575 to $600. Applicants under the Provincial Nominee Program will see fees increase from $950 to $990, while business immigration applicants will face a higher jump, from $1,810 to $1,895. Family class sponsorship fees will also climb slightly from $545 to $570.
Other categories will experience similar incremental increases. Fees for protected persons, as well as those applying on humanitarian and compassionate grounds or under public policy measures, will move from $635 to $660. Permit holder fees will increase from $375 to $390.
Federal officials say the increases are necessary to maintain timely and reliable processing as Canada continues to experience strong immigration demand. The updated fees will apply to all applications received on or after April 30, 2026, while applications submitted before that date will be processed under the current fee schedule.
