OTTAWA – Canada Post has officially implemented higher postage rates as of today. The cost of stamps purchased in booklets, coils, or panes, which account for most stamp sales, has risen by 25 cents to $1.24 per stamp. Meanwhile, the price of a single domestic stamp now stands at $1.44, up from $1.15.
This change marks a significant one-time increase of approximately 25%, aimed at addressing the rising costs of delivering letter mail services across Canada. Over the past decade, Canada Post has kept letter mail rate increases minimal. However, declining letter volumes, the growing number of delivery addresses, and inflationary pressures have necessitated the adjustment.
To minimize the impact on Canadians, Canada Post has estimated that the average household will see an additional cost of $2.26 annually, while small businesses can expect an increase of $42.17 per year.
