Ottawa, ON – Canada’s Minister of International Trade, Maninder Sidhu, says strengthening air links between Canada and India remains a top priority as trade and travel between the two nations continue to grow.
During his visit to New Delhi, Sidhu met with Air Canada’s India lead to discuss expanding flight connectivity and enhancing passenger and cargo operations. The talks focused on improving access for businesses and travelers amid rising trade and tourism.
“About 12% of Canada’s trade moves through passenger and cargo aircraft,” said Minister Sidhu. “As we continue to expand trade with India, convenient connectivity for our businesses and citizens remains essential.”
With bilateral trade already surpassing $30 billion annually, more than 25 weekly flights now carry close to 7,400 passengers between the two countries. Sidhu noted that these air links are “opening doors to new markets, creating good jobs, and bringing Canadians and Indians closer than ever.”
The government says continued investment in air connectivity will support economic growth, promote cultural exchange, and strengthen the partnership between Canada and India.
