Surrey: RCMP has provided an update in connection with an incident in which a person was seriously injured and the suspect fled in a stolen vehicle.
Surrey RCMP said they can confirm the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim by throwing an accelerant on his body and proceeded to light him on fire.
The victim, who remains in hospital and recovering, suffered serious burns to his body.
“The stolen vehicle which was used by the suspect has been recovered with the assistance of public. Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit has conduct of the investigation and officers are working diligently to explore all avenues of the investigation, including the determination of the motive of this assault,” RCMP said.
Though RCMP has not identified the victim, as per reports, Canadian-Pakistani businessman Rahat Rao was believed to be targeted.
