Surrey- Four men have been charged with murder following a shooting in South Surrey. On June 8, 2024, 23-year-old Manvir Basram, 20-year-old Sahib Basra, 23-year-old Harkirat Jhutty, all from Surrey, and 20-year-old Keilon Francois from Ontario were charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Yuvraj Goyal.
The incident occurred on June 7, 2024, at approximately 8:46 a.m., when Surrey RCMP responded to a shooting in the 900-block of 164 Street, Surrey, BC. Officers found 28-year-old Yuvraj Goyal of Surrey deceased at the scene. Shortly thereafter, police were alerted to a vehicle fire in the 18500-block of McMillan Road, Surrey. Due to a swift, coordinated response by Surrey RCMP, Air 1, and the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT), four suspects were quickly identified and apprehended.
Although initial evidence indicates this was a targeted shooting, investigators are working to understand why Mr. Goyal, a 28-year-old community member with no prior police history, was killed.
