Toronto: The police on Thursday said two persons were dead, while two other others were injured after a “gun battle” style shooting at a plaza in Scarborough on early Wednesday.

According to information,  the shooting happened in the parking lot near Ellesmere Road and Oakley Boulevard around 2:30 am.

Det. Rod Benson said one person died at the scene, while another one at the hospital. Two others were also taken to hospital with serious injuries and are undergoing surgery. He said they suffered from gunshot wounds.

“It’s a lot. There’s a very significant number of shots,” Benson said. “Forensics haven’t even gone through and counted up all the shell casings. They are still in the process right now, several hours after the fact.”

An investigation is ongoing.
