Surrey, BC – Surrey Police Service (SPS) is warning residents that fraudsters are spoofing its non-emergency number, 604-599-0502, to trick people into giving up personal or financial information.
Scammers are making calls appear as if they’re from SPS, sometimes even using fake officer names and badge numbers to gain trust. SPS stressed it will never call to request money.
Public safety tips:
- Never share personal information over the phone.
- Don’t send money or click on suspicious links.
- Hang up immediately.
- Call SPS’s non-emergency line (604-599-0502) to verify suspicious calls.
