
Surrey RCMP has issued a public interest notification regarding a concerning individual residing in the Surrey community.
Michal Popek, aged 44, has been granted a One Chance Statutory Release prior to the completion of his sentence in December 2025. Following his release, Popek will be subject to a 10-year Long Term Supervision Order.Popek’s history includes a 2020 conviction for sexually assaulting four women between 2015 and 2016. He poses a significant risk to both adolescent girls and adult women, including strangers.Under the terms of his release, Popek must adhere to strict conditions, including abstaining from alcohol and non-prescribed drugs, avoiding establishments primarily focused on alcohol or cannabis sales, and refraining from associating with sex trade workers or escorts. Additionally, he is subject to a curfew from 6:00 pm to 7:00 am, with exceptions granted only for employment or educational purposes with written permission from the parole supervisor.
Surrey RCMP, in collaboration with the Correctional Service of Canada, Community Corrections, and other stakeholders, will closely monitor Popek using both traditional policing methods and electronic surveillance. Residents are urged to report any sightings or knowledge of Popek violating these conditions immediately by calling 9-1-1.
