Surrey, B.C. – A 45-year-old man is facing multiple Criminal Code charges following an investigation by the Surrey Police Service into an incident at a business in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m. on March 7, 2026, frontline officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a business in the 7800 block of 132 Street. Staff at the location had detained a man who allegedly entered the business and brandished a firearm. According to police, an employee was able to take the firearm away from the suspect before officers arrived.

When officers reached the scene, they took the suspect into custody and seized the firearm involved in the incident. Investigators later executed a search warrant at a residential property in Surrey, where a second firearm was recovered.

Police say Rajwinder Singh Sandhu, 45, has now been charged with uttering threats along with several firearm-related offences.

Sandhu has since been released by the court and is scheduled to appear next on April 1 in Surrey Provincial Court.

The investigation by the Surrey Police Service remains ongoing.
