New Delhi – Mark Carney announced 13 new talent partnerships between Canadian universities and institutions in India as part of his official visit to the country.
“Canadian universities are launching new talent partnerships in India — 13 new agreements for research, hybrid campuses, and AI centres of excellence,” said Carney. “This will provide invaluable experience for students and strengthen our world-class universities on both sides of the Pacific.”
The announcement came as the Canadian Prime Minister continues meetings with Indian leaders, educators, and industry representatives aimed at strengthening bilateral ties across education, innovation, and trade.
The new agreements will focus on joint research initiatives, student mobility programs, hybrid campus models, and artificial intelligence centres of excellence. Officials say the collaborations are designed to expand opportunities for students in both countries while accelerating innovation in areas such as AI, clean energy, health sciences, and advanced manufacturing.
Hybrid campus arrangements are expected to allow students to complete portions of their degrees in both Canada and India, enhancing cross-cultural experience and workforce readiness.
The initiative forms part of Canada’s broader Indo-Pacific engagement strategy, positioning Canadian institutions as global leaders in research and higher education while deepening long-term ties with India.
